Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy

Policy Statement

This statement details the policies and procedures in place and the actions taken by Murdock Builders Merchants to reduce the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking anywhere within its own business or its supply chain. This document is published in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and is reviewed annually.

About Murdock Builders Merchants:

Murdock Builders Merchants Ltd is a heavy side supplier of building materials, timber and hardware products to the construction industry and the DIY market.  The Group operates across the island of Ireland and employs approximately 400 people.

Modern slavery is a crime and a violation of essential human rights. It can take various forms, such as slavery, servitude, forced or compulsory labour and human trafficking, all of which involve the deprivation of a person’s liberty by another person/s in order to exploit them for personal or commercial gain.

Murdock Builders Merchants are committed to acting ethically in all our business dealings and to enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure that modern slavery is not taking place anywhere within our own business or in any of our supply chains.

As part of our commitment to reducing the risk of modern slavery and human trafficking within our own business and our supply chains we commit to carrying out the following:

1. Publish our policy on slavery and human trafficking on our website so that it is freely available to our employees, our suppliers and the general public

2. Implement a training programme within our Purchasing Department to raise their awareness of this matter when they are dealing with our supply chain

3. Gain a demonstration from our supply chain is ensuring that it is free from slavery and human trafficking by conducting a survey of our suppliers

4. Review this policy on an annual basis to ensure that it remains up to date.
